Frugal Christian Living

11

Trying to make a living in today's hectic economic and social environment may seem a daunting task at first, but careful planning and knowing how to keep costs low can make a frugal living possible. Also known as simple living, the low cost lifestyle fits perfectly with the Christian way and lets you live a stress free life, away from the financial burdens of credit cards, mortgage payments or various debts.

The first thing that everyone needs to know, before embarking on this lifestyle change, is a set of simple rules on frugal living, which will change their mindsets. Trying to cut costs simply involves knowing how to stretch out the money you have and also figuring out how to buy cheap, but good. Buying food is the first step where everyone should start. Forget about expensive supermarket chains with prepackaged foods, instead focus on wholesale raw ingredients. This means you will have to learn how to cook, but this can be fun. Also, consider growing some of your food in the backyard. Buying bulk food also helps, as we all know, it comes cheaper with the dozen.

Get rid of paying the rent by finding a roommate or helping a senior citizen with household choirs or house-sharing. Be on the lookout for any salvage materials or furniture to equip your home. Try to keep the bills low by buying efficient light bulbs, turning off the appliances, and washing your clothes in cold water. The transportation is also a key part to reducing unnecessary costs; find a carpool friend or set up with neighbors one. Buy clothes and shoes during end of season sales, the prices can be dramatically lower than during high season. As for the entertainment, try to usher at concerts instead of paying for the ticket, also go to parties, but remember to hold one at your own place as well.

Keeping in line with these easy to follow tips, coupled with the daily prayer and bible study can get you the simple frugal Christian living. You will feel better about yourself and it will be a big step towards happiness.
